PNP Chief, Director General Alan L Purisima has named Police Director Leonardo A Espina to the 4th highest position in the Philippine National Police.
Espina formally assumed as The Chief of Directorial Staff of the 148,000-strong PNP. As TCDS, Espina will assist the Chief PNP in supervising all activities and functions of the PNP Directorial Staff Offices.
Espina will be replaced as NCRPO Regional Director by Chief Superintendent Marcelo P Garbo Jr.
PNP Public Information Office Chief, Sr Supt Reuben Theodore C Sindac said this latest upward movement of officials occupying key positions in the PNP was triggered by the retirement this week of Police Director Arnulfo Perez, former Director for Logistics, and the recent retirement of Deputy Director General Rommel Heredia, former Deputy Chief for Administration, and two other star-rank officers.
Other major changes in key positions include the designation of erstwhile PNP Spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Generoso R Cerbo Jr as Officer–in-Charge(OIC) of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas; and he was replaced by Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor as PNP Spokesperson.(PNP-PIO)
